his study investigated the ameliorative effect of methanol extract of Ananas comosus peel on carbon tetrachloride (CCl₄)-induced hepatotoxicity in Wistar rats. Twenty-five male albino rats were allocated into five groups: normal control, 200 mg/kg pineapple peel extract (PPE), 500 mg/kg PPE, silymarin-treated positive control, and CCl₄ negative control. At the end of the experimental period, blood and liver tissues were collected for biochemical, antioxidant, and histological evaluation. Quantitative phytochemical analysis showed appreciable amounts of saponins (14.85±0.02 mg/100 g), flavonoids (2.63±0.02 mg/100 g), and alkaloids (2.85±0.02 mg/100 g). The extract contained 5.24±0.02% protein, 5.31±0.02% crude fibre, 1.08±0.01% fat, 3.84±0.00% ash, and 2.36±0.07% carbohydrate. CCl₄ exposure was associated with adverse changes in antioxidant status, lipid profile, hepatic enzymes, renal indices, and liver architecture, whereas PPE treatment showed ameliorative effects comparable in several parameters to silymarin. These findings suggest that methanol extract of A. comosus peel possesses antioxidant and hepatoprotective potential against CCl₄-induced liver injury in Wistar rats
